In the second of our series of ProFinda profiled insights about the people behind the company: ProFinda – we hear from Marketing Assistant – Illy Coruk.
As a child I attended ballet lessons from the age of six. I grew up with an older ballerina cousin and a pianist grandpa, my dream was to become a professional ballet dancer. However, it did not take me too long to change my mind when I volunteered as a Research Assistant at Oregon Legislature in the US during my high school exchange year in 2012. Immediately after, I decided to pursue a Politics and Business Management degree in London. It was not until I had undertaken a summer marketing internship with a wine company in Italy and completed a Marketing Module at University that I started to investigate a career in Marketing. Seeking a part-time internship – I had a number of interviews with a range of companies and in January 2017 I was offered a role within the marketing team at ProFinda. At the end of my course year, this turned into a full-time role as the company’s Marketing Assistant.
After starting at ProFinda, I realised quite quickly the importance of working within a well-connected team environment. Having worked within a number of large international corporate organisations, both of my parents were always frustrated by siloes and the extent of the disconnect between people and teams in this setting. Noticing this frustration as a child and listening to what they were saying, it made me realise how important it was that I took a job that had a real focus on teamwork and collaboration.
From the day I started my role at ProFinda, I was impressed with the encouraging attitude of the team. I found myself making the most out of my weekly one to one meetings with my Manager – reviewing my progress, working on my confidence and looking at a personal development plan. Since starting – I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of projects from expanding our network on social media, to shooting and editing company videos.
Working at ProFinda has highlighted the benefits of an ambitious and driven team spirit. Every team member understands the direct impact that they make on the company – plus the benefits of working with such an ambitious, energetic, open-minded and coffee loving group of individuals is irreplaceable. I am proud to be part of a fantastic team and excited to see what the future holds.
